About this position

To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements (if applicable) listed in the job announcement. Currently employed physician(s) in VA who met the requirements for appointment under the previous qualification standard at the time of their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements of the occupation. Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. (NOTE: VA physicians involved in academic training programs may be required to be board certified for faculty status.) Approved residencies are: (1) Those approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), b) OR [(2) Those approved by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA),OR (3) Other residencies (non-US residency training programs followed by a minimum of five years of verified practice in the United States), which the local Medical Staff Executive Committee deems to have provided the applicant with appropriate professional training and believes has exposed the physician to an appropriate range of patient care experiences. Residents currently enrolled in ACGME/AOA accredited residency training programs and who would otherwise meet the basic requirements for appointment are eligible to be appointed as "Physician Resident Providers" (PRPs). PRPs must be fully licensed physicians (i.e., not a training license) and may only be appointed on an intermittent or fee-basis. PRPs are not considered independent practitioners and will not be privileged; rather, they are to have a "scope of practice" that allows them to perform certain restricted duties under supervision. Additionally, surgery residents in gap years may also be appointed as PRPs. Proficiency in spoken and written English. Physical Requirements: Light lifting (under 15 pounds), Pulling hand over hand, Use of fingers, Both hands required, Walking (1 hour), Standing (1 hour), Near vision correctable at 13" to 16" (Jaeger 1 to 4), Ability to distinguish basic colors, Ability to distinguish shades of colors, Hearing (aid may be permitted). This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application.   • This is an Open Continuous Announcement & will remain open until December 31, 2026, or until all positions are filled. The first cut-off date is May 7, 2026. The Radiologists will perform fluoroscopy operation in the operating rooms, procedures in the operating rooms if approved by Chief of Surgical Service and the following duties: Body Radiology Core - arthrography - diagnostic & therapeutic (i.e. spinal/peripheral), CT/CTA chest, cardiac, abdomen, pelvis, extremities (upper, lower), post-procedures e.g. (post-arthrogram), CT planning (e.g. stereotactic). MRI/MRA/MRV chest/cardiac, abdomen, pelvis, extremities, post-procedures e.g. (post-arthrogram) - all, including any special pulse sequences or MR techniques, Sonography abdomen: complete sono eval liver, bile ducts, GB, prostate, spleen, kidneys, urinary, bladder, prostate, intraperitoneal space, limited abdominal ultrasound - focused to specific organ systems based on clinical indication, color - duplex doppler abdominal ultrasound - eval of abdominal aorta, IVE, portal vein + abdominal visceral arteries + veins, complete pelvic ultrasound: transabdominal + transvaginal imagining with color + duplex Doppler evaluation, small parts (breast, scrotum, thyroid, parathyroid, etc), upper - lower extremity (deep + superficial venous color +duplex Doppler eval, limited ultrasound of thorax (pleural effusion, pleural-based mass), ultrasound of softtissue based on clinical evaluation. General Plain Film Core - plain film skull, craniofacial (face, orbits, sinuses, temporal bones, sella,mandible), neck, spine (C,T,LS, whole), chest (PA/lat, portable), abdomen e/g/ KUB/supine/erect, pelvis,extremities (upper + lower), IVP. Neuroradiology Core - arthrography - diagnostic & therapeutic (i.e. spinal/peripheral); CT head, craniofacial (face, sinuses, orbits, sella, skull-base, temporal bones), nect/ENT, spine (C, T, LS, whole), CT-Angiogram, CT-planning (stereotactic, stealth, brain-lab, etc.) CT post procedures (e.g. post-arthrograms, post-myelogram); myelogram procedures; fluoroscopically guided lumbar punctures. MRI-Head, craniofacial (face, sinuses, orbits, sella, skull base, IAC's TMJ's), neck/ENT, spine (C, T, LS, whole), brachial + lumbar plexus, MRA + MRV, MR perfusion, MR SWI, and MR Spectroscopy. General Procedures Core - barium enema, UGI, IVP, small bowel follow-through, barium swallow, fistulogram, enteroclysis, IVP, cystograms, retrograde urethrogram, retrograde urethrocystogram, antegrade pyelogram, loopogram, and insertion, adjustment, injection, and assessment of tubes in the GI tract. Fluoroscopic imagining (for those procedures otherwise credentialed). Image-guided diagnostic and therapeutic joint injections. VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package.
