AND In order to qualify for the GS-14 grade level, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-15 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include: 1) Leading the design, development, and implementation of AI/ML platform engineering solutions, supporting organizational strategic objectives and mission needs ; AND 2) Conducting advanced research and analysis in AI/ML platform engineering to inform system improvements, innovation, and adoption of emerging technologies ; AND 3) Developing, implementing, and maintaining governance frameworks, policies, and standards for AI/ML platforms to ensure compliance, integration, and alignment with organizational and federal guidelines. Time-in-Grade: To be eligible, current Federal employees must have served at least 52 weeks (one year) at the next lower grade level from the position/grade level(s) to which they are applying. This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Office of Information Technology,OIT, Enterprise Architecture and Data Group. As a IT SPECIALIST (ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE), GS-2210-14, you will function as the organization's foremost subject matter expert and thought leader, directing comprehensive AI/ML platform engineering initiatives.
- Provide executive-level strategic leadership and vision for AI/ML platform engineering across the enterprise, establishing long-term technology roadmaps and architectural standards that align with national AI initiatives.
- Direct the development of revolutionary internal developer platforms (IDPs) and self-service ecosystems that enable autonomous, scalable AI/ML operations across diverse organizational units.
- Lead innovation in advanced hardware optimization including quantum-classical hybrid systems, specialized AI accelerators, and distributed computing architectures that push the boundaries of AI/ML performance and efficiency.
- Develop and implements comprehensive, enterprise-wide governance frameworks for AI/ML platforms that establish industry-leading standards for model lifecycle management, ethical AI practices, and regulatory compliance across federal agencies.
- Provide executive-level leadership and strategic direction to senior technical staff, cross-functional teams, and external partners to drive organizational transformation and establish CMS as a leader in government AI innovation.
