About this position

You must meet the Specialized Experience to qualify for Supervisory Workers' Compensation Claims Examiner, as described below. For GS-14: Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level GS-13 in the Federal Service. Specialized Experience is the experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform the duties of the position successfully, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Qualifying specialized experience for GS-14 includes: Applicants must demonstrate experience applying the Division of Energy Employees' Occupational Illness Compensation Act (DEEOIC) and/or other Workers' Compensation legislation and related laws, regulations, program policies, procedures, and operational practices. In addition, applicants must have experience: Supervising, managing, or mentoring employees, including evaluating performance, providing feedback, directing workflow, and offering technical and administrative guidance; Communicating with internal and external customers to address needs and resolve issues or concerns; Developing, contributing to, or delivering training to staff; Planning, implementing, and completing project work; This position is located in the Department of Labor, Office of Workers' Compensation Programs, Division of Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation. This position serves as the Assistant District Director in the assigned District Office and in conjunction with the District Director provides supervision and program guidance over the District Office in administering the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act.
  • As a Supervisory Workers' Compensation Claims Examiner you will: -Provide administrative support in directing all activities relating to receiving, examining, developing, investigating, adjudicating, and recommending disposition of all claims under the EEOICPA within the District Office's jurisdiction. -Assume full responsibility for developing, implementing and monitoring District Office efforts to improve work quality as assessed by internal audits, accountability reviews, and management reviews of District Office Operations. -Provide oversight and technical direction to claims staff in regards to program work or methods/techniques employed to adjudicate claims cases.
