Semester of Service Volunteer - Congressional Data Management Volunteer

Applicants will be considered based on their knowledge, skills or abilities related to project needs. Specifically, applicants should have the following skills: Entry level data management skills (essential) Being detail oriented (essential) AI programming skills (preferred) Make an impact while you learn. The Semester of Service Program offers students a volunteer project-based opportunity to support Federal missions, gaining hands-on experience & valuable career-ready skills. Students must be enrolled at least half-time in an accredited trade school, technical or vocational institute, junior college, college, university, or other accredited educational institution & participation must be with the permission of the institution at which the student is enrolled.

• This vacancy announcement will be open from 07/30/2026 to 08/05/2026 or when 25 applications have been received. The vacancy will close on whichever day the first of these conditions are met. If the application limit is reached on the same day the announcement opened, the open and close date will be the same. Candidates are encouraged to read the entire announcement before submitting their application packages. This volunteer would update/prepare a new H Engagements tracker for the new Congress: They would duplicate an existing Sharepoint tracker for State - Congressional engagement. The old tracker is set to the current Congress, but starting January 2027 our team needs to rebuild this Sharepoint tracker to have the update members after the Fall 2026 midterms. This massive tracker serves our whole bureau as the input area for all Congressional requests. Create a customized, H-specific State Chat model that would include things like hearing transcripts, briefing notes, letters, travel: StateChat's custom GPT tool offers bureau specific AI products. We would like the volunteer to migrate existing congressional documents to a custom GPT and program it to be used across H bureau for anyone on our team to search/retrieve congressional hearing transcripts, briefing notes, press releases, and congressional travel itineraries.
