The city set this up back in the spring. On April 7, the City of Temecula posted on Instagram that "both Vail Ranch Park and Long Canyon Creek Park are getting new restrooms installed, along with some utility and sidewalk work to connect it all seamlessly," with the buildings expected ready at the end of summer. The post included the line "Say goodbye to cutting your park visit short to run home for a restroom break," which is a fair read of what a restroom actually does to the length of a park visit. The filing provides one detail absent from the city's April post: the building is 166 square feet.

The city's Public Works project status report, current as of July 22, 2026, fills in the rest: construction started January 26, 2026, the ribbon cutting was July 8, 2026, and the notice of completion is anticipated to go before the City Council in September. The project's total cost is $1,497,930, funded through Measure S according to the city's Capital Improvement Program page for the project.

The ADA-compliant flatwork is worth noting. The CEQA filing places it within the Long Canyon Creek project, while the city's April post separately says utility and sidewalk work is included with both restroom installations.

Schwank's Open Question About the Next Park Is a Real One

Schwank represents City Council District 5. This is his question, so residents should give him specific park names rather than general complaints.

Here is my position: more residents should answer Schwank's post with the specific park they use. Naming that park directly is more useful than offering a general complaint about restroom access.
